| Visit
of Mrs. Riitta Passi, Executive Officer of PICARD, Capacity Building Directorate,
WCO

On the afternoon of Feb. 18th, 2008, Mr. Yu Shen,
President of Shanghai Customs College, received Mrs Ritta Passi, executive
officer of the program “Partnership in Customs Academic Research and
Development”(PICARD), launched by Capacity Building Directorate of
WCO. Mr. Yu had an amiable and friendly talk with Mrs. Passi, extending
his warm welcome to her and giving a brief introduction to the “five
in one” teaching and training module of our college. Mrs Passi expressed
her sincere gratitude of the hospitable reception and thought the teaching
and training level and scale of Shanghai Customs College were quite outstanding
even among the global customs universities. Meanwhile, she introduced briefly
the customs postgraduate education and training of Customs and Consumption
Research Center of Canberra University, Australia and Education and Training
Center of Finish Customs. She also hoped that Shanghai Customs College would
sign the memorandum as soon as possible and join the International Network
of Customs Universities (INCU), through which the College could promote
and advance the international exchange in the field of customs education
and training by the platform of PICARD and to make greater contribution
to the cooperation of world customs. The visit of Mrs. Passi lasted one
week, during which she inspected the college facilities and had a thematic
talk centered around the preparation and schedule of PICARD Conference.
The third session of PICARD Conference will be held
in our college in May. It is the first time for WCO to hold such kind of
meeting in other countries or regions outside Brussels and it is predicted
that more than 100 delegates from over 30 customs colleges and research
institutions around the world will participate the meeting. Being the new
beginning of the internationalization strategy of China Customs’ higher
education and professional training, the sponsoring of PICARD Conference
assumes great significance in promoting the international academic intercourse
and cooperation between China Customs and WCO, the capacity building drive
of China Customs and the international influence of China Customs. . |
